THIS EVENT IS CANCELLED! Using genomics to learn about the diversity of life. Apply no later than 17 April.
In an era characterized by extinction and habitat loss, it is crucial to understand the biological diversity on our planet and the evolutionary processes that generate it. Genome sequencing has enabled numerous insights into this, and as sequencing technologies improve, more high-quality genome assemblies and genetic diversity analysis are made possible. This has resulted in a number of ambitious projects such as the Earth BioGenome Project, in which Swedish scientists and SciLifeLab are involved.
At this year’s Science Summit, the use of genomics to learn about the diversity of life will be explored. Keynote speakers Federica Di Palma, Richard Durbin, Ludovic Orlando and Stephen Wright will share their thoughts on what insights genomics can provide, and how genome studies can be applied on everything from plants and vertebrates to entire ecosystems. There will also be ample time for discussions and mingle.
